As a Release Quality Engineer at Bede, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our products are delivered to clients at the highest standards. This means hands-on testing, supporting internal and external testing efforts, and working closely with teams to resolve defects efficiently. You’ll also be responsible for deploying Bede software to client environments, ensuring smooth, reliable releases while maintaining a strong focus on quality and performance.
This is a hybrid role that requires you to be in our Newcastle-upon-Tyne office two days a week. Please apply only if you’re comfortable with this arrangement.
What you'll be doing
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure all Bede products meet high-quality and compliance standards.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage software deployments across multiple environments.
- Support client-reported defects and deployment activities, ensuring timely resolution.
- Act as the gatekeeper for production environments, maintaining stability and integrity.
- Track and report deployment issues, risks, and dependencies to key stakeholders.
- Continuously refine and optimise deployment processes for efficiency and reliability.
- Coordinate with clients to schedule and manage standard and non-standard changes.
- Carry out any other duties relevant to the role as required.
What we are looking for
Essential Skills & Experience
- Able to build relationships and effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, internally and externally.
- Capable of diagnosing defects, identifying root causes, and providing replication steps. Able to assess risks and make informed decisions.
- A keen interest in software development and computing in general.
- Ability to prioritise and manage tasks efficiently across multiple workstreams.
- Able to take a holistic approach to product quality, ensuring stability and availability.
- Strong grasp of SDLC stages to support effective project execution.
- Comfortable following structured processes and proactively seeking ways to optimise them for efficiency and quality.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience in software development and Agile methodologies.
- Familiarity with quality management software.
- Hands-on experience using Argo CD for CI/CD pipelines to support efficient release cycles.
