Bede takes home prestigious industry award at the EGR B2B Awards 2022

We’re pleased to announce our win at the 2022 EGR B2B Awards. Shortlisted in two categories, we took home the night’s most coveted trophy in the Full Service Platform of the Year award.

The success, which comes as we celebrate our 10 year anniversary, is a significant achievement in our history and is recognition of our staff’s dedication to improving our products and services to meet the needs of our clients and their customers.

Bede was born out of our founders’ shared frustration with legacy platforms and their limitations to make changes to the customer facing front end, leading to the development of their own player platform. Bede and its technology has grown exponentially since then and is now one of the most flexible solutions on the market for ambitious operators wanting to succeed in the digital arena. This award is a reflection of these credentials as evidenced across our client base.

Our parent company, Gauselmann Group also took home the Land Based Supplier of the Year at the SiGMA Americas Summit 2022, showing the global strength across the group.

And with a new CEO at the helm, more great things are yet to come, so watch this space!

OLG has announced that a CAD$22m winning LOTTO MAX ticket was bought on OLG.ca, the lottery’s player platform, powered by Bede Gaming. The lucky winner took advantage of the ease of buying a ticket online and is the second big winner of over CAD$20m through the digital platform.

The Bede platform enables OLG.ca to provide an intuitive interface that guides users through the process of buying lottery tickets, offering engaging and tangible elements to select draws, numbers and tickets. Since 2021, Ontarians have been able to also enjoy further entertaining content on OLG.ca through additional verticals now available on the site. One of the first of which was casino games through Bede’s sister company, Blueprint Gaming.

OLG’s LOTTO MAX jackpot winner explained that he had signed up to their lottery subscription through OLG.ca because he had a tendency to forget to purchase tickets and was very pleased he did!

Garry, who works in IT, said he was numb with shock once he had counted the digits several times and realised he had won the jackpot – on his wife’s birthday no less! You can watch the heartwarming video interview with Garry here:

OLG launched its new digital gaming platform with Bede in October 2020 and has enjoyed many notable milestones since. As well as being able to rapidly offer new content and verticals to the site, a new app and surpassing 1m registrations, OLG also launched three new digital products and converted a further three much-loved lottery games into digital versions. One of which, was one of OLG’s oldest games, first launched in 1989. OLG now offers a total of eight online lottery games for players to enjoy.

Since its transition to the Bede platform in 2020, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has enjoyed transformative growth in its digital performance, with gaming revenue up by over 50%, it has been announced today.

Offering customers an engaging and safe gaming environment is a priority for OLG and moving to Bede has been integral to creating significant advances in customer experience on digital and mobile for the lottery and gaming corporation.

Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is, once again, on the forefront of delivering excellence with its expanding digital offering on OLG.ca – the only legal digital platform of its kind in Ontario.

OLG is introducing Ontarians to an exciting new casino experience with a digital twist. The new Live Casino on OLG.ca is a unique offering of live dealer games where players interact directly with real casino game presenters via live stream. Real cards are shuffled and dealt and for roulette, a real wheel is spun, creating the same feelings of anticipation as the player awaits the outcome. Each game features high-resolution video and graphics that provide players an unparalleled digital experience, no matter where or how they choose to play.

OLG’S NEW PROLINE+ ONLINE SPORTSBOOK HITS
$1 MILLION IN WAGERS IN LESS THAN A WEEK
Single event bets dominate the first days of wagering action on Ontario’s only legal online sportsbook

TORONTO, ON – Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is pleased to announce that in less than a full week of operation it has already processed over $1 million in bets on the new PROLINE+ online sportsbook. The only legal online sportsbook in Ontario launched last Friday and Ontario bettors have been eagerly checking things out since. Early results show bettors are excited to have a trusted option to place a bet on a single event, as approximately 74 per cent of wagers accepted through Tuesday evening were singles.

Bets on baseball, football and soccer have accounted for almost 82 per cent of the wagering since launch. PROLINE+ has also seen plenty of live betting action as well – nearly 37 per cent of bets placed have occurred while the games were in-progress.

“Ontario bettors had been waiting for a best-in-class option to place bets and that’s exactly what OLG has delivered with PROLINE+,” said Dave Pridmore, OLG Chief Digital and Strategy Officer.

The launch of the new casino app for android is another step forward in the enhancement of OLG’s digital offering. It is the latest installment from the corporation since its transition to the Bede platform and is a great example of the choice and capability the platform offers lotteries as they seek to transform their online experiences for customers. OLG are already seeing benefits having achieved a significant increase in new players and surpassing 1m registrations since moving to Bede as a digital solution.

Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is adding more choice and convenience to the way Ontarians “play” with the launch of the new OLG App. The free app is easy to use and great for getting right to the game, be it in the online casino or the lottery lobby. Better still, the ever-popular ticket scanner feature is included as well so players can experience their winning moment anywhere in the province.

“OLG.ca is the trusted digital platform of choice in Ontario and now our players can have that same confidence in the OLG App, whether they’re making a deposit, playing their favourite game or scanning their tickets to check for winners,” said Duncan Hannay, OLG President and CEO. “With over one million registered players on OLG.ca, we are intent on continuing to deliver world-class gaming entertainment for Ontarians while driving forward as a leader and an innovator in the digital space.”

OLG’s award-winning PlaySmart program tools are at players’ fingertips within the app so they can get the facts before they play and set personal limits to keep gambling fun and entertaining.

The new app is a collaboration between OLG and Bede Gaming and is a one-stop shop to buy lottery tickets and play many casino games offered on OLG.ca, check tickets bought in-store and find game and jackpot information. Bede provided the digital solution for the new OLG.ca and player platform launched by OLG in late 2020 which has seen hundreds of thousands of players register since that time.

We Give Up Our Time

As a general rule, Beders like to give back. Whether it be mentoring students, championing tech or teaching skills, our people give up a lot of their time to things that are important to them. So as a company we like to make sure our staff are given the right environment to be themselves and enjoy what they do, whether that’s working hard or playing hard.

Last year, as well as hosting three hackathons, two awesome parties and numerous socials, we also made sure we supported an array of local charities and causes close to our hearts. We help young athletes work towards their dreams of being world champions through Sport Newcastle and over the course of the year we raised over £3000 from our tuck shop sales, and our seasonal initiatives such as St Paddy’s Day, Easter, Back 2 School and Christmas fun saw us add a whopping £2500 to that total.

None of this could have happened without our staff giving up their time and knowledge so a big thank you to all at Bede for eating cakes, quizzing and supporting these fantastic causes.

We’re refurbing our peer-to-peer recognition reward scheme! This year we’re introducing the Bede Lotto. Same principle to our previous reward practices but new drawing system. Each month, employees are nominated by their peers for going above and beyond, and entered into our lottery, giving them the chance to win some huge prizes. The rewards for excellent work and extreme efforts range from top of the range headphones to holiday vouchers to Bede socks (yes, they exist!)

Health & Wellbeing

Our focus on health & wellbeing remains paramount at Bede, and we’re continuously cultivating an open and supportive environment. In the last year, we’ve put a real focus on gambling awareness, not just for our industry, but also for the welfare of our staff – our workforce is made up by a majority of 18-35 year olds (74%), the highest risk group for problem gambling so it’s important to us to ensure all staff can work safely and know the signs, as well as who to talk to, should they need to.

Problem gambling and mental health are intrinsically linked so we also continue to develop a really open, supportive and understanding culture regarding Mental Health. Providing training for all our staff to better equip them on recognising signs of problems, and creating a health and wellbeing committee to cultivate collaboration on initiatives. It’s become a key part of our culture at Bede, not just an HR initiative, all managers take part in mental health training and actively normalise it throughout their teams. It’s a collaborative effort from all of us.

All our staff are provided with private healthcare, which can be extended to family members. We also offer discounted gym memberships and in-house sports teams (which get highly competitive!)

The BU Programme

You’ll be hearing a lot more about our new initiative, the BU Programme, over the next few months. This exciting concept encapsulates all of our opportunities for young people and career switchers. To top it off, we’re thrilled to have won the ‘Best Place to Work Award’ at the International Gaming Awards in February. This is a fantastic achievement for us as both as an employer and as staff members, who all take responsibility for making Bede a great place to work.
